The Post who RSTISF (Really Shouldn't Talk in Short Forms)

Yet another day gone!

Sadly, the TJ volleyball team lost to NYJC in the finals today at Toa Payoh 3-0. But I still feel that it's quite an achievement already to be able to play at that stage so cheer up guys!

Whenever I take a bus and go past Toa Payoh Stadium, I always think of what it would be like to play for my school in that stadium. Guess I'll never have that chance again anymore eh?

Thought I would meet the rest up for dinner in the evening but it was late when I got that so most of them were gone. I ended up having dinner with Junping and her friend (still don't know her name) so thanks for the company.

Anyway the above title of this post is dedicated to Yanting after a truly hilarious MSN conversation which proved that we really should cut down on abbreviated forms of words in our daily speech.

I read on TIMES magazine that over 60% of school children in the US (another short form), if I remember the figures correctly, think that it's okay to use words like LOL and smileys in formal writing. Now that is pretty amazing for a country where English and Spanish are the main languages which people communicate in.

While I am no champion of English at its purest and proper, I still believe that there should be times we talk and write properly, and times where we can allow space for short forms.

But as any army guy would tell you, army abbreviations are as many and as common as vulgarities in our daily routine so forgive us.

Sigh. And I still owe her 2 cups of soya milk.
