The Post which is Back

I know it's strange for me to post after such a long absence but here I am.

For the past 2 months my life was, well, rather dull. I guess there isn't very much to post about unless you want to know how much I drove over the week or how I spent my usual weekend.

Add the fact that I'm heading back for my recourse BMT to Tekong next Monday, I had this feeling that this blog will be dead faster than I expected it to be. How interesting can my army life be anyway?

Just a quick update about September.

Pretty nothing much if you ask me. Been driving around as usual to different places. But there is a new influx of drivers to replace the ORD-ing batch in December. So my life in unit is much easier.

Some of you will also have noticed that I had quite a few number of offs. It's great to be able to spend my time outside but usually no one else is free. Haha.

At the end of September I had 4100km mileage, which is really impressive since I only drove for 4 months. My plans were to slack during October, enter Tekong peacefully and have a nice holiday inside, and relax for December when I get out.

Turns out no.

Without being too dramatic, yesterday evening I got into an accident.

A car accident actually. To cut a long story short I was driving in camp, wasn't paying attention during a right turn, hit a kerb, hit a lamppost.

Now that got your attention eh?

Honestly what really happened in those few seconds in the vehicle remains fragmented and unclear to me now. I was lucky to escape with just bruises and a cut.

You know that people say that the final moments before impact everything seems to be in slow motion a la Matrix-style? I tried it. It's true.

No one else was hurt thankfully. I don't think I can live with the guilt if I hit someone.

What I will receive for my punishment remains unknown but I'm assured by my officers they will try to lighten it. Now will be a true case study about the old adage that SAF drivers have one foot on the accelerator and the other foot in the detention barracks.

Meanwhile I'll like to thank all my unit buddies and friends who have helped me since last night.

Keep you all updated again.
