Weekend is here once again!
I went back to Changi Naval Base finally, and when I reached there it felt as though I never left before.
2 months just zoomed past! Haha, man if only NS life will be over like this period of time.
Chucked away my no.4 uniforms into some corner and proudly donned on my navy coveralls. And it's pretty fun to see all my friends back in the unit.
Anyway, it was Wanqi's birthday celebration last night. Went to this place called Stew Haus at Siglap which is quite good fare. I recommend it so do go down some time.
As usual, we took quite a few pictures but I don't have them yet so I'll load it up soon when I do get it.
We also went to this pub (my first time actually) and a while later I think we all realised that it seemed to be a pub for older people. LOL
There were mostly people in their late 30s to 40-ish so it was really weird to see them drinking and dressed up. Especially the older ladies.. Yikes!
Organising a basketball session once again with my brothers tomorrow so hope people do turn up. Haha.
Good week ahead people!

The Post which No Longer Has Stickers
End of the course!
Exactly 2 months ago on this date, I packed my heavy field pack and duffel bag and dragged them to Sembawang in the early morning. But the luggage wasn't as heavy as the feeling in my heart at the thought a stay-in course.
Today, I left Sembawang Camp for good (until my next course, that is), bidding farewell to a good 2 months worth of memories.
Well, from tomorrow I'll be back to Changi! Tried my luck by calling by my unit to ask for off days, but sadly I didn't get any. =(
For now I'm trading my green for my blue once again this year. I haven't been back for two months now and I really hope there will be good changes.
On a terrible note, the 4x4x4 Rubix cube is so much more difficult to solve! Sigh..
I'm only done with the top and bottom layer and I'm already having loads of problems. Haha guess I gotta try harder!
Nothing noteworthy for the past few days so I'm cutting this post short. =D

The Post which Is A Tinkerbell
Sunday night once more to mark the end of yet another week.
It's a pretty good weekend to be said. I managed to go out to spend time with my family and friends to compensate for last week's miserable time!
Being able to go out and chill around and eat whatever you like, as I learnt once again the hard way, is not something you take for granted so take care of your health everyone.
Especially in this goddamn hot weather!
Played basketball and badminton in the morning with my 0706 folks. I was a little apprehensive to play sports just after my illness but a while later I just thought "Heck, I'll play."
I think it's great that 0706 people, or more precisely my group of friends of 0706, are still finding time to hang out and spend time with each other! Hey, how many of you could say that you still hang out often with your JC friends?
After that Chengliang and I sent Alvin off at Pasir Ris (booking in, that poor guy) and we spend the rest of the time slacking at my place, where I began thinking about friendships and stuff like that.
Oh boy I think I'll lose my audience if I begin preaching so I'll keep my heartfelt thoughts to myself. Haha.
Anyway it's a week that I'm rather anticipating cause I'm heading back to Changi soon!
300 more minutes of 5 tonner driving and an assessment to go. 2 more days of Ford Everest driving to go. And I'll be going back man.
I have no idea why I can't wait to go back. It's probably because:
a) no need to wake up so early!
b) it's in the east!
c) no more $6 daily travelling fare!
d) civilian clothes and navy wear!
e) more girls to see in navy camp!
f) no more @#*&^%@ driving each day but details instead! (I'm not sure if it's a mistake to say this)
Quite a few reasons isn't it? LOL
So I'm hoping it'll be a good work week for all of you too and a happy holiday for those who can enjoy it! =D

The Post which are Yellow Lucky Honey Stars
Back and better!
2 days back to driving camp and it feels great to be up and running. Well, not so much of running but moving around and feeling alive at least. Not that I'm happy to go all the way back to Sembawang just to drive. The bus fares are killing me T_T.
But I will not be staying there for long already. It's a less than a week till the official end of my course so I'll be (without any unforeseen circumstances) posted back to my sweet Changi home.
It's interesting isn't it? I seem to remember my last day at Changi on the 27th of March, I was thinking how long it would be before I return.
And then, ZHOMG! (I have no idea what that word means but I've seen someone use it before and can't remember who) it's nearly the end already!
4 vehicles in 2 months. It's a long, hard but fun journey man.
For my happy little school friends, today is also the last day of their term 2 and it's the school holidays already. Unfortunately, those yellow boxes in my calender no longer hold any significance to me, except no school girls to look at while I wait for my morning bus. LOL
I'm wondering, how come there isn't a week or something where all adults have holidays and the students go school instead?
Nonetheless it still feels good to be entering the month of June cause it's some sort of half-year mark for me. I'm intending to take 13th and 16th of this month of leave to give myself a good break.
Still have some way to go. Meanwhile I'll just enjoy myself for this weekend i guess.
Yet another new video up for a laugh to brighten up your weekend. My absolute favourite!

The Post who is a Lady Afterall
2 days MC!
Took MC for the first time in my NS career and the first time this year when I finally decided that I was a no-go for driving yesterday morning.
Interrupted sleep, soaring temperatures and drowsiness pretty much helped me decide that if I really did drive yesterday, I might have killed someone (although my normal driving already run that risk) so I went to the polyclinic in the morning.
Took a 2 day medical leave and only today I got a much better so there.
So it has been a looong weekend for me. Saturday Sunday Monday gone, Tuesday and Wednesday on MC. It's just a 2 day workweek for me! =D
Spend some time thinking these few days when I was half dead in bed about things, really materialistic things, I can buy myself so it's like something I can work and look forward to.

Moving onto new challenges! The 4x4x4 Rubix cube has been on my list for quite some time and I've been saying that I'll get it at the end of my driving course. Seeing that it ends in a week or so, this is gonna be mine soon!

The one on the left, you idiots!
Okay it's just some picture I pulled off Google so it kinda got my attention alright? No harm done to anyone or any other misleading intention. Or not. LOL =D
PSP PSP PSP, everyone has one now (even my young nephews.. sigh I'm such a loser) so I'm really itching for one. It probably means blowing off a full month's allowance for the whole set but still....
The problem is that my unit's Duty Seargent Major (DSM for short) doesn't allow it in our unit so we could have sticky issues trying to play it or bring it to camp, which is pretty much where we spend our whole life now right?
Sigh. Must reconsider I guess.
Another new video up. Just some old song that stuck in my head after I heard it a few days ago. Still a very nice song though!

The Post which Sits on Anti-Government Vehicles
Here I am, as sick as a dog, when I should have been out enjoying myself over the past few days.
Finally succumbing to my sickness, I decided to go to see a doctor all the way at Bedok (all nearby clinics were closed) last night. Fever, sore throat, lymph node infection, the whole works. He wanted to give me a MC but there wasn't any point since I can't skip Tuesday cause of some army stuff.
I took a taxi to Bedok. The driver asked me why I decided to go all the way there just to see a doctor, to which I explained. After a few moments, he launched into a full blooded diatribe about the wrong doings of our government on medical expenses and, in his grand finale, exclaimed "they should be shot!"
o.o
Just the other day, I was having my driving lessons with my instructor when he began a similar argument on the government and its many weak policies and yada yada. All I could do was to smile and nod in agreement.
What is it with people holding a steering wheel for a living and governments?
Anyway, I'm sick and giddy and all messed up. There's driving tomorrow which I badly feel like skipping but I can't. Gotta hang in there until I can try to get a break on Wednesday.
Rereading Rurouni Kenshin to pass time. LOL. It's a good series you know. Go to www.onemanga.com for many great comics!

The Post who Nods His Head Off
Saturday is here and for the first time in 3 months I fell sick.
Went home late last night as there was night training and had to report at Mandai at ungodly hours this morning. On the way there I was having a headache and wasn't feeling that great.
I reached camp only to find out there was another 200 minutes of driving (for the second day running) so you can imagine how I felt.
Managed to make it through although I drove like a nutcase which made my driving instructor complain quite a bit. LOL. Don't come near me when I drive man.
I planned to go out today but instead I swallowed Panadols and just slept through the afternoon. Shucks. But it's a long weekend ahead, courtesy of Vesak Day so that's great!
Having multiple coffees to keep myself awake and alert but I'm losing concentration and mood to blog on so off I go then.
Good weekend ahead all!
P.S included a new video on TJ. Support your own school man! Haha..

The Post who RSTISF (Really Shouldn't Talk in Short Forms)
Yet another day gone!
Sadly, the TJ volleyball team lost to NYJC in the finals today at Toa Payoh 3-0. But I still feel that it's quite an achievement already to be able to play at that stage so cheer up guys!
Whenever I take a bus and go past Toa Payoh Stadium, I always think of what it would be like to play for my school in that stadium. Guess I'll never have that chance again anymore eh?
Thought I would meet the rest up for dinner in the evening but it was late when I got that so most of them were gone. I ended up having dinner with Junping and her friend (still don't know her name) so thanks for the company.
Anyway the above title of this post is dedicated to Yanting after a truly hilarious MSN conversation which proved that we really should cut down on abbreviated forms of words in our daily speech.
I read on TIMES magazine that over 60% of school children in the US (another short form), if I remember the figures correctly, think that it's okay to use words like LOL and smileys in formal writing. Now that is pretty amazing for a country where English and Spanish are the main languages which people communicate in.
While I am no champion of English at its purest and proper, I still believe that there should be times we talk and write properly, and times where we can allow space for short forms.
But as any army guy would tell you, army abbreviations are as many and as common as vulgarities in our daily routine so forgive us.
Sigh. And I still owe her 2 cups of soya milk.

The Post who Lived the Moment All Over Again
Yesterday at CCAB, history seemed to be ready to repeat itself in the semifinals of the A division volleyball boys tournament.
Only this time, TJ came down from 2-0 to win AJ 3-2, to book themselves a place in the Toa Payoh Stadium for the finals.
I was there to watch and was part of the bench (not in jersey though) as I stood side by side with the reserves as the epic comback began from the 3rd set onwards. Truth be told I was extremely nervous for the last set but I really proud they won.
Shouted and talked to the players during the match and felt strangely nostalgic for that moment. Haha. Maybe I should become a coach next time to live through more of such moments.
The funny part was when we won and Mr Fung gave this huge sigh of relief. So I brought 2 cans of 100Plus over and we toasted and both of swore at the same time.
"Ta ma de! Still let them win 2 sets!"
I feel like taking leave or off on Thursday to watch the match but it ain't possible since I'm still in the middle of the 5 tonner course which started today.
Man, after driving those atrocious Landrovers and 3-tonners, the 5 tonner felt like a heavenly vehicle. Seriously if you see a 5 tonner on the road next time (car plate number starts with a 2), don't be deceived by its ragged appearance. It's much more high tech than it seems.
Off to Mandai again tomorrow!

The Post who is Actually Ironman

Cheerful looking chap ain't he?
Anyway I caught the movie last evening with 0706 people. 7 girls and 2 guys which is a pretty impressive attendance I say. Must be the fact I planned it! =)
Actually not. Haha. I guess many people wanted to watch it in the first place, and not even first row seats (that really sucked) could stop us from catching it.
I'll give it a 3.5/5 rating. For a superhero movie, fighting scenes seem strangely lacking. Nonetheless its a good worth for your dollar so do catch it if you haven't!
Sunday evening with pretty much nothing to do. I'm rather enjoying this kind of peaceful setting which I haven't gotten and appreciated until the start of NS. No books or homework or studying to do. But I'm sure when NS is over things will change.
Frankly I can't wait for that!
A quick look at the calender tells me I am currently 4 months into my NS. Another year and six months to go. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Okay that was a random joke I heard before. But I find it funny though LOL.
Tomorrow its another exciting day for me!
Will need to book in back to Kaki Bukit Camp in the wee early morning hours to collect my military driving license (woohoo!) and submit some documents. After that its another day off =D
It's exciting because in the afternoon I'll be heading back to TJ to meet up my volleyball juniors and catch the guys play against AJC in the A' Division semifinals.
We met the same fellas last year in the exact same semifinals so there's a real sense of deja vu. Of course, we lost last year but this year I've got a real strong feeling TJ will come out winners. Go TJVB!
The funny thing is that, once they finish their competition this year, my juniors will be out of the volleyball team and commencing with their lives of endless studies for A' levels. And it seems strange that I, as a senior, no longer have many familiar faces if I ever go back for training.
Never thought I'll be so passionate and nostalgic about volleyball eh?
Well, I'll leave that for consideration next time. Evening all!

The Post which is Out of Blood
Hello I'm back from the jungle!
Makes it sound as though I'm such a hardcore soldier. Actually its not that case. For the past 2 days I stayed in camp for cross country outfield driving training. Sounds pretty tough eh?
In the end all we did was to drive a bit here and there and spend most of the time sleeping, feeding mosquitoes and inhaling second smoke.
Gotta get those lungs checked out.
One really fun part was when it was about 8pm and all the drivers were sitting at the back of the tonner after one hard day of training (yeah right), feeling really tired.
We all sat in silence until one guy piped up "Purple light!"
It's an army song, which the first person leads and the others echo along. Not surprisingly only a few echoed back. "Purple light..."
And then another verse. "In the valley!" and this time round more and more people joined along. In the end the whole tonner was singing as loudly as we can for the entire journey home; even those people who are usually quiet screamed their heads off.
After a while we fell quiet when this motorbike, on which a couple was riding on it, drove behind the tonner so the same guy said, "Eh, gotta wayang a bit."
So we start singing like nutcases again! Haha, even that drew a big smile from the 2 on the motorbike.
Patriotic/insane (delete whichever applicable) moments aside, its another day of islandwide driving and I'm home on a half-day off so I'm slacking my ass off here in front of the computer.
I might also get tomorrow and next Monday as a reward for passing my TP test the first so hell yeah! =D
Anyone who can help me out with inserting a tagboard? I know nuts about HTML. Drop me a comment or find me on MSN. Thanks!

Anyway a delayed photo of the 0706(+chengliang - melissa) BBQ last Saturday. Great fun!

The Post which Stands Outside with other Men
It was a pretty fun BBQ on Saturday at Pasir Ris Park!
First off, a certain blur person took his friends to the wrong MRT station and led them the wrong way. Mistook the location of the BBQ pit to be at East Coast when it was at Pasir Ris.
The person is of course, yours truly. Haha.
It was about 7pm when I reached there with Chengliang and Zhiyun and it was quite a good attendance for the BBQ with most of our gang of friends making it.
Met Jiahui the guy for the first time since his enlistment and he was already having the infamous Tekong cough. Other than that he seemed pretty fine. Too bad Hanwei wasn't there though. That bastard.
And the funniest part was when Chengliang ran up to Reuben and jumped to whack him, only to have his pants split wide open on the very first minute of the BBQ. Lucky I brought extra pants which he hurriedly changed into. LOL.
Today I went for my MOE interview for the scholarship and I'm glad to say it went pretty well.
Once again I was one big joker when I alighted at Buena Vista MRT station, crossed the bridge and tried to go to MOE. I had no idea where it was so I flagged down this cab and entered.
"Eh uncle, to MOE please."
He then points to a building less than 100m away.
"It's over there." and laughs at me.
Sigh. The blur man strikes again.
Lucky for me the interview went without slipups and it was pretty natural and fun for me. I guess once you get used to vulgar and foul-mouthed personnel in the army (no one can deny that), nice people are easy to get along with.
It's also my third consecutive night at home for the first time in more than a month so I'm a happy man. Things are going well and looking towards my way and I guess I can be thankful for that.
And its back to Sembawang Camp for me tomorrow and I'll be looking to hunt for my next off =D

The Post which Hates that Beeping Sound
Tremendous tremendous week!
Took my driving test on Friday. I spend most of my time in the training shed that day waiting for my turn to come. After lunch my name was called.
"Recruit Liow! Report to Mr Andy Kua."
My first reaction was.. WHAT THE F***!? He was the same tester who took me for my HSP test 2 weeks ago and he was, nicely put, a very unpleasant person which I had difficulty getting along with.
But seeing that I already the experience of meeting him once, seeing him the second time didn't seem so fearsome. With my knowledge of the verbal massacre from him that was sure to come during the test, I went in with the air of a sacrificed martyr.
He didn't disappoint me. 5 minutes to the test, vulgarities and his spit came flying from my left side and it would continue to be so for the next 55 minutes.
BUT I PASSED! What a relief. Truth be told it was a rather emotional feeling for me then.
With home sweet home in my mind, today seemed to pass pretty well with islandwide driving from Sembawang Camp to Changi Naval Base(where my unit was) for the morning.
Gosh it's already a month since I left CNB. Seemed like a long long time ago. Another month more to go till the end of my driving course and back to Changi I go.
Lugged my terribly heavy duffel bag and field back home on the train and drew many disapproving stares on my sweating and tired self from the commuters.
Will be spending the next few happy days at home, seeing that I can officially stay out as I passed my test. Then its another off day for me on Monday for my interview so its 2.5 days without driving. Fantastic!
0706 will be having a BBQ tonight so off I go soon.
