It's been an interesting weekend!
First up, it was the NDP rehearsal 6. It amazes me how I managed to live through six of them. Now there is just the Preview and NDP left. So I really can't wait for it to be over.
Next thing up was, at around 10am, I noticed a lot of people starting to appear around our area, wearing Liverpool jerseys and walking towards Fullerton Hotel.
How could I have forgotten! Haha. Turns out that Liverpool FC was staying at Fullerton and all the fans gathered to watch them during their cruise around Singapore River.
There was a funny moment when this fellow, wearing a Chelsea jersey, came up from the MRT station near by, only to realise he was swarmed by a sea of red shirts.
He walked towards the Penny Black bar (people were singing You'll Never Walk Alone inside the bar), looked at all the red banners and Liverpool jerseys, probably got scared of being stared at, and walked back in the opposite direction. LOL
Before the team arrived, the medics were coming up with crazy hypothetical situations if the boats hit some problems and we had to rescue them. Wow that would be crazy if the likes of Fernando Torres and other superstars visited our tent.
Imagine that we saved them, and they gave us tickets to visit Anfield! Or loads of signed jerseys and exclusive passes!
Yeah, daydreaming I know.
Anyway by around 2pm, they arrived. They got onto 3 seperate boats, and you can see all the crazy fans chasing the boat up and down the length of the Singapore River.
The sun was crazily hot. As in, hot as hell. No hint of a breeze or any clouds, yet you can see the hundreds of people waiting for their appearance. RESPECT!
The first boat arrived, and I could see Torres, Kuyt, Alonso, Reira and most of the other first teamers. At this point I was feeling damn surreal, seeing the football stars in flesh for the first time.
Torres looked rather mechanical and shy, waving at random points.
At this point, when we saw Alonso, everyone started shouting, "DON'T GO REAL MADRID!", "STAY FOR LIVERPOOL!" and stuff like that. I'm sure he heard us. Haha. But I really hope he doesn't join them, because he's such a great player for us.
Kuyt and Alonso seemed to have the most fun, because there was this fan trying to toss his jersey at them.
I wouldn't recommend it really, since if you miss, that's $100 odd bucks down the dark depths of our river. =S
Second boat was, well, second teamers. Haha. But Carragher and Reina was on it. Carragher was like, hmmmmm, in his stony face the whole way though.
Third boat was the coaching staff. Sammy Lee was sitting on the bow of the boat, with his legs dangling out just about the sea. Not much safety there.
Inside the boat, near the front seats was Rafa. Strangely I decided to wave at him. LOL. But once again everyone was shouting at him not to sell Alonso.
At the end of the cruise, there was a bit of confusion because all the NDP patrol vessels and NDU fastcrafts were also by the river and there was a bit of a jam. I wonder what the Liverpool players must have felt, seeing their small ship flanked by 4-5 military ships.
Here's a link of the coverage of the Singapore River cruise.
No bloody pictures, because I didn't have a bloody camera for crying out loud. Sian.
